If you read my recent post on my current go-to foundation then you had a peek into my obsession with bb (beauty balm) creams. I’ve received this question a lot and thought I’d answer it here.
What are bb creams and how do they differ from CC creams?
BB (beauty/blemish balm) creams are light/sheer coverage tinted moisturizers. They differ from CC (color correcting) creams because they protect skin and act as a cream that provides even coverage. CC creams protect skin but also act to heal and hide scars, hyper pigmentation and color correct hyper pigmentation or discoloration of the skin.
I have always chose BB creams because my skin doesn’t need as much color correcting. I prefer BB creams because they provide me with light coverage and a smooth and even appearance. One thing I have not has to deal with is not being able to find a BB cream that matches my skin tone in drugstore or department stores. The two drugstore/department store BB creams I have used and absolutely LOVE are the Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream in Medium and the Maybelline Dream Pure Matte and the Honest Face Tinted Moisturizer.
More recently since implementing green brands into my lifestyle I have used this one.
If you have combination to oily skin, I would suggest applying a setting powder on top of the BB cream application. Here’s a mattifying powder I like to use.
